This past week in class, we talked about all sorts of stereotyping. From Disney's, Pocahontas to education majors, we are all stereotyped. I really like the stereotyping activity we did in class on Monday. It showed that we all have a stereotype placed on us, but we can beat that stereotype. I believe the students would enjoy this activity and it would show that each and every one of them have the stereotyping insecurities including myself as a teacher.
In the activity, I chose the education major stereotype. This stereotype includes; education majors being seen as taking the easy way out of school and that we just do a bunch of crafts. Being an education major is not as easy as people think it is. We have many stresses on us about students reaching their standardized testing goals, teaching to all learners and diversities, and so much more. This activity is a fun way to share our thoughts and ideas of who we are.
